The Chatham-Kent Police Service has hired some home grown talent to their workforce.
Blenheim native Ryan Gardiner and Chatham native Andrew Craven are the newest recruits with the CKPS, after completing school outside of the municipality.
Gardiner took Justice Studies at the University of Guelph-Humber, while Craven studied Criminology and Sociology at Brock University. But both are already excited to come back home.
"I think it means more to police in your own community where you grew up, to see if you can make a difference," says Gardiner. "You know some of the people you're going to deal with, and hopefully make their lives better."
Craven explains what drew him to a career in policing.
"I grew up on a farm. We don't have anybody in our family who is an officer, so I thought it would be an interesting career choice," says Craven.
The two new constables were sworn in August 3.
