Farmers Looking At Fire, Loss Prevention

Fire and loss prevention are hot button issues set to be focused on at the Kent Federation of Agriculture's regional meeting at the end of the month.

Farmers are set to meet on August 30, 2016 with the guest speaker focusing on the matter.

Kathy Delanghe with the KFA expects farmers will be keen to hear how they can get ahead of some issues.

"Apparently with this thermal imaging that they have, they can detect problems prior to them happening," says Delanghe. "Most farmers want to do their due diligence and if there are any problems they want to detect them as quickly as possible and fix them; saves a lot of problems down the road."

Delanghe adds the drought the region has suffered will likely come up as well.

"Much of the topic will be about crops, but surprisingly a lot of the crops have been fairly good in our area I'm happy to say," says Delanghe.

Elections are also set to take place to elect three policy advisors to represent Chatham-Kent farmers provincially. Votes will also be cast to send nine delegates to the Ontario Federation of Agriculture convention set for November in Toronto.

The KFA meeting is to be held at Roesch Meats and More in Kent Bridge.
