Canada Day Celebration Moving Indoors

The bleak forecast could put a damper on Canada Day festivities in Chatham-Kent.

That's why organizers have announced festivities that were going to take place in Tecumseh Park will now be held at the Chatham Cultural Centre across the street.

In a written statement, Chatham-Kent-Leamington MP Dave Van Kesteren says the high chance of thunderstorms has forced their hand.

"People can forget their chairs and sunscreen and sit comfortably in the theatre chairs and enjoy fascinating stories about our community," says Van Kesteren.

The event starts at 10am Friday, featuring presentations from local historians and officials.
