Police Looking For Throat Puncher

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for help as they try to track down someone responsible for a violent attack in Chatham.

Police say a 63-year-old man was helping a motorcyclist at the corner of Grand Ave. and Ursuline Ave. on May 7 when a man started arguing with him and punched him in the head and the throat.

Later that same day, police the victim went to the hospital in Chatham for treatment because he had trouble breathing. Medical staff determined that the man's voice box was fractured, so he was rushed to hospital in London for emergency surgery.

Police say since then, the victim has been released from the hospital and is currently recovering at home.

Officers are still trying to find the man responsible for the attack. He's described as a white man, 35 to 40 years old with brown or dark blonde hair. Investigators say he was last seen carrying a backpack with what appeared to be a television or a computer monitor.

Police would also like to speak to the motorcyclist who the victim was helping.
