Teen Killed In Charing Cross Crash

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash in Charing Cross.

It happened just after 3am Saturday morning.

Police say a vehicle with four young people inside was travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Middle Line when it left the road. It crashed through a fenced compound on Charing Cross Rd. and slammed into a large snow blower.

An 18-year-old was located on scene and taken to hospital where police say he later died. The other passengers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, has been arrested and charged with criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide a breath sample.

Police are not releasing the names of anyone involved.
