The final preparations are underway for the annual Dresden Demolition Derby tonight.
Derby promoter Dan Fry says for the first time ever, the event is a qualifier for the Simcoe Williams Cup championships, so they're expecting some good competition.
"Some of them just started a couple weeks ago, it all depends," says Fry. "Some of the guys who are running in the pro-mods for the qualifier have been working on them since last year -- they can have $30,000 to $40,000 invested in them."
Fry says they are also raffling off a chance to participate in the derby.
The gates open at 6pm at the Dresden Raceway.
