Cutting CK's Energy Consumption

After two years of brainstorming and discussion, Chatham-Kent's Community Energy Plan (CEP) is almost ready to go before municipal council.

The plan will outline targets and ideas for how the municipality as a whole can cut down its energy consumption.

Linda Borst with the municipality's Asset Management Division says they have been building awareness of energy issues in the community and brainstorming opportunities for how businesses and residents can help.

"The community was really involved in the creation of the plan," says Borst, adding they received a lot of input while they were shaping the CEP. "We've had the school boards, the University of Guelph, St. Clair College, all of the larger businesses in the area have been involved in it and they are very excited about what's going forward."

The plan is set to go before council in June.
