Possible Lease Extention At Rondeau

The provincial government is taking the next step in deciding whether to extend the leases of cottages at Rondeau Provincial Park.

Ontario Parks and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is conducting an environmental assessment and is inviting public comment.

The call for consultation says the leases could be extended to 2038. They are due to expire at the end of next year.

The ministry says it is not considering the development of new cottage lots and expects any environmental impact to be low.

However it may not be as simple as renewing the leases because the assessment raises the possibility of impossing strict new conditions on what cottagers can do with the cottage lots.
