After years of sitting vacant, the top floor on the highest building in Windsor is being turned into a "high-end" event space.
Caesars Windsor is calling the room on the 27th floor of its Augustus Tower, simply Augustus 27.
Mary Reilly, the vice president of marketing at the casino, says a few ideas for the space have been thrown out over the years, but the time is right for this kind of project.
"The room holds up to 250 people, so we're looking at a great opportunity for social events, corporate events, galas, weddings, in the Detroit-Windsor market," she explains.
Reilly says the room is expected to be in use later this fall, so they're already taking bookings.
The designers are going for a "modern-sophisticated, industrial-chic" look, with a lot of exposed beams and accent lighting.
Caesars is also renovating an unused space in front of its steakhouse, Neros, calling it Up Front at Neros. It's expected to be a more casual restaurant with a different menu from Neros, but one that compliments it.
