The London Knights are the champions of the Ontario Hockey League, a feat they accomplished with remarkable efficiency.
The Knights beat Niagara 1-0 on Wednesday night to complete a four-game sweep of the IceDogs. It was the third straight sweep of a playoff series for London, following the Knights' 4-0 series wins over Kitchener and Erie.
London lost just twice in these playoffs, with both losses coming against Owen Sound in the first round. The Knights won an Ontario Hockey League record 13 straight in the playoffs and all nine games they played away from Budweiser Gardens.
All they needed on Wednesday was Christian Dvorak's first period goal and goalie Tyler Parsons took care of the rest, stopping 18 shots for the shutout.
Mitch Marner, who led the OHL in playoff scoring with 44 points (16 goals, 28 assists) was named the MVP of the playoffs, adding the Watne Gretzky "99" Award to the regular season MVP honours.
The Knights' first game at the Memorial Cup is scheduled for May 20. They will face the host Red Deer Rebels.
