The 15-year-old centre was drafted sixth in the eighth round, and was selected 147th overall.
While playing for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones in Minor Midget AAA, Spence scored 18 goals and had 11 assists in the 2015/2016 season.
They were produced during an intense storm last Saturday afternoon.
