The Chatham-Kent Health Coalition has public forums planned for both Wallaceburg and Chatham and co-chair Shirley Roebuck says a growing deficit at local hospitals underscores the need for more funding.
This week BlackburnNews.com reported the deficit could top $3.5-million and Roebuck is blaming the province.
"It's certainly not good news to the people of Chatham-Kent, certainly this is a funding problem initiated by the provincial government," she says. "A possible $3.5-million deficit in Chatham-Kent (Health Alliance) services are going to be cut, there is nothing else to be said."
Roebuck says with funding to hospitals frozen deficits are going to grow.
The forum tonight is at the UAW Hall on Elm St. at 6pm and the one tomorrow is at the library in Chatham at 6:30pm.
