A Chatham man is facing fines for illegally dumping fill into Rondeau Bay. Ronald Field and Fieldco Properties Ltd. each pleaded guilty and were fined $2,500 for the March 2015 offence. A complainant contacted the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry after observing Field working in Erieau and dumping fill into the bay. Both the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority and Sourthern Marine Enforcement Unit investigated and ruled that the work did in fact require a permit, which Field did not have. Government officials did not specify what the damage was, but say all "altered property has been rehabilitated back to its original condition."
