K-K-K-KATY 98 Years Old

It was on this day in 1918 that a Chatham man published a song that went on to become one of the most popular songs of the First World War era.

K-K-K-Katy was written by Geoffrey O'Hara, and was subtitled "The Stammering Song." It went on to sell more than a million copies in sheet music.

O'Hara wrote the song while on a visit to Kingston.

The song was also a big hit when recorded by American tenor Billy Murray.
