Leamington Mayor John Paterson feels it's a win for council after a neighbouring wind turbine project scratched the town from its eventual proposal to the province.
Council has declared Leamington an unwelcome host to turbines which prompted the EDF Canada to revise its plans for the Romney Wind Energy Centre project.
Speaking to BlackburnNews.com, Paterson says turbines don't fit with the municipality's goal of boasting tourism in the town.
"That is in regard to our birding industry and the migration of the butterflies and those machines are certainly not friendly to those kinds of life forms," says Paterson.
The Leamington mayor doesn't think it's the last time council will hear of a wind farm project being proposed in town.
"I think we have to remain on guard and continually reinforce our position on that," says Paterson.
The neighbouring wind farm project has been granted necessary approvals to move into the development phase with the project spanning the area north of Wheatley and part of Lakeshore.
