Carleton Impresses at Iowa State

Bridget Carleton is making a good first impression at Iowa State University.

The Chatham native is in her freshman season with the Cyclones.

"The team has a lot of confidence in me, the coaches, and I've been playing pretty well," says Carleton. "I'm happy overall, I think with how I've been playing, but there's just always room for improvement."

Carleton's enjoying the challenge of playing Division I college basketball.

"I'm playing with, and against girls that are three or four years older than me," says Carleton. "They're all strong, they know how to play basketball, they've been playing all their lives, they know every detail about it. They're smart players, they're athletic, and they really take pride in their school and they want to win as badly as anyone else."

Carleton was a unanimous selection to the Big 12 All-Freshman team, and earned an All Big 12 honourable mention. She was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week five times this season.

She's ranked 16th in the Big 12 among freshman in points per game with 11.6. Carleton is also ranked ninth and leads all freshman in the league with 7 boards per game.
