Conservation authorities are finalizing plans for spring tree planting and the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority has seen an increase in the numbers it will plant this year.
Environmental Technical Assistant Greg Van Every says the authority will plant more than 100,000 trees this year in a variety of projects.
"Whether it is ten trees, whether it is 10,000 trees, essentially we provide tree planting projects, wet land projects, and we do tall grass prairie projects and we have financial incentives for all of those things," he says. "The reason we are so high on our numbers this year, is we are doing a relatively large restoration project in the east, out by Clearville and there is 60 acres of trees going in there."
Van Every says even though the number of plantings will be higher than usual this year, the conservation authority can handle more orders.
The deadline to order trees is March 15.
