Good News For Infrastructure Replacement

Chatham-Kent officials have been given some good news when it comes to infrastructure replacement.

Thomas Kelly, general manager of infrastructure and engineering, is in Toronto for the Good Roads Association meetings with the province and is being told the province is putting up more money.

He says the overall pool for both regular infrastructure and the portions of provincial highways that go through municipalities will be increasing.

"We have two connecting links in Chatham-Kent, one in Chatham along St. Clair and Grand and also in Wallaceburg at McNaughton and Dufferin," he says. "So far we've been very fortunate."

Kelly says the municipality has applied for money for the link in Wallaceburg.

He ways the province plans to double funding available under that program over four years, and the funding pool for general infrastructure will triple over four years.

He says that doesn't guarantee more money for Chatham-Kent but it does improve the chances.
