Travis Konecny had two goals and an assist as the Sarnia Sting beat the Generals 4-2 in Oshawa Sunday night to complete a sweep of their weekend home-and-home series.
Sarnia won Friday night on home ice 4-1.
The Sting, playing their third game in as many days, jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Anthony Salinitri and former General Matt Mistele.
Alex Renaud also scored on his former team on a short-handed breakaway early in the second period to cut the Sting lead to one. Konecny, however, scored on the same power play to restore Sarnia's two goal cushion.
Renaud would also record an assist on Lukas Lofquist's goal with just 39 seconds left in the second frame and the Sting would head to the final period with a nervous 3-2 advantage.
Sarnia, however, was able to limit Oshawa's chances in the third and Konecny, the game's first star, would score his second of the game into an empty net with just two seconds remaining.
Konecny has five goals and ten points in six games with the Sting since being acquired before the trade deadline. Pavel Zacha and Jakob Chychrun each had two assists Sunday.
Overage goaltender Charlie Graham has won all three of his Sarnia starts including both wins over Oshawa. The Sting outshot the Generals 32-20 with Jeremy Brodeur, the son of NHL great Martin Brodeur, going the distance in goal for the home team.
With the win, the Sting (23-12-5-1) moves to within five points of OHL West Division leading Windsor. The Spitfires lost 2-0 in Saginaw Sunday.
Sarnia's two Oshawa wins sandwiched a disappointing 3-2 loss to Brigden native Kaden Fulcher and the Bulldogs in Hamilton Saturday night.
The Sting have three more games this week including home encounters with the Knights Thursday night and Peterborough Saturday night before heading to London for another game against the Knights Sunday afternoon.
