Two Chatham-Kent police officers suffered minor injuries while arresting a suspect in Wallaceburg.
Last night around 7:30pm, police responded to a 911 call on Duke St. where they found a man wanted on outstanding warrants.
When they tried to arrest him, police say he grabbed a small torch device and BBQ lighter from a bedside table. Officers had to use pepper spray to take him into custody.
The suspect allegedly ingested drugs before police arrived so he was taken to hospital for medical attention.
The 27-year-old Walpole Island is charged with three counts of assaulting a peace officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and eight counts of failing to comply with release conditions.
