Windsor West MPP Lisa Gretzky is not optimistic about the Ontario government reaching a deal with its correctional workers.
The former NDP corrections critic toured the South West Detention Centre yesterday, and says she can sense the frustration from its employees.
Gretzky thinks the Liberals have had more than enough time to get a proper deal done.
"The thought of having untrained, unqualified people running a facility, while those who are trained to be in there are on the outside is very concerning," she says.
The MPP says she's toured a number of of facilities across Ontario, and they're all understaffed as it is.
The province and OPSEU will attempt to negotiate a new contract agreement once again today, ahead of tomorrow night's strike deadline.
