The Chatham Maroons were defeated in a close 10-8 game by the London Nationals on Wednesday.
The Maroons trailed 3-2 at the end of the first period, but were down 6-2 after London score three goals consecutive goals in the second. Chatham was able to regain some ground, scoring three of their own before the final frame to make it 6-5 for the Nationals. The third was a back and forth period again, with both teams scoring three goals before London scored their final point with less than a minute to play, giving them a two goal advantage for the win.
Maroons forward Ian Faubert says it was a disappointing loss.
"We definitely didn't have trouble putting pucks in the net. Defence was something we talked about going into the game, and I guess it was something we lacked," he says. "We know we can be a lot better defensively and hopefully we can work on that."
The Maroons return to the ice on Friday to face off against the St. Marys Lincolns at 7:30pm.
