A 57-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after an incident that forced a VIA train to stop at the rail station in Cobourg.
Cobourg police say the train stopped after witnesses on board allegedly overheard the man threatening someone he was speaking to on his cell phone.
There were no threats made against any individuals aboard the train, but once it was stopped, all of the passengers were still removed from the rail car as a precaution.
After officers completed their search, the passengers and crew were allowed to board the train again and they continued on their way to Toronto.
A 57-year-old Chatham man is now charged with uttering threats to kill.
