Truck Theft Related Charges

Two suspects who were arrested in November driving a reported stolen truck now face charges connected to a total of 18 thefts.

At least 18 trucks were stolen in the Wallaceburg area between August and November. Chatham-Kent police chief Gary Conn says the two suspects have now been connected to all of the them.

"A lot of work and time and effort goes into these types of investigations, I'm very glad that it has come to a successful resolution, now that it is before the courts," he says. "We had a lot of public outcry in regards to the thefts, we know of 18 for certain, 18 in a community of our size is a substantial amount."

Conn says General Motors and Chevy trucks were targeted and stripped for parts.

An 18-year-old Munsee-Delaware First Nation man and a 16-year-old Chippewas of the Thames First Nation youth are faced with more than 40 charges between them.

They are being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
