Dog Revived Following Apartment Fire

Damage is pegged at $120,000 after a basement apartment fire at Chatham complex.

Fire crews were called to the four unit building at 35 Orchard Heights Dr. just before 6:30pm yesterday. Fire officials say a quick response and aggressive attack allowed them to contain the fire to the basement, saving approximately $300,000 in property.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but during a search of the two storey building, an unconscious dog was discovered and with prompt treatment was revived.

A space heater located too close to combustible material gets the blame for the fire.

Fire officials are reminding residents to clear space several feet around all space heaters.
