In her maiden question in the House of Commons, Essex MP Tracey Ramsey challenged the Liberal government to reach a better Trans-Pacific Partnership deal.
Saying thousands of jobs are at stake, Ramsey demanded International Trade Minister Chrystia Freeland do a better job consulting with the public. The NDP member notes Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has already told some world leaders Canada will sign the deal.
"They want a government who will stand up for their jobs."
Freeland says she's already meeting with stakeholders.
"We've spoken already with labour. We have a couple of labour meetings this week," she says. "We've spoken with car parts manufacturers. We're meeting with more car companies this week."

Ramsey also challenged the government to include the public in any solution to address chronic unemployment in Windsor-Essex. In her maiden speech to the House, she pointed out her riding has the highest unemployment rate in the country.
"I've met with many people in the riding who have terrific ideas how we can move the region forward and support local job creation."
Also in the speech, Ramsey welcomed enhancements to the Canada Pension Plan saying Canadians have a right to retire with dignity and restore health care transfers to the provinces.
