The University of Windsor is dealing with a drop in enrolment this year and expects the trend to continue into next year.
There are 464 fewer students enroled as of November 1 of this year compared to the same time last year.
This fall there were a total of 15,577 students on campus including 13,564 full-time undergraduate and graduate students while the rest are made up of part-time students.
The university did record a 240 enrolment bump in the number of full-time graduate students, something the university credits almost exclusively to more international students coming to the university. However, there was a 703 student decrease in those enroled in undergraduate programs.
It's the second straight year the university has seen enrolment decline from a five-year high of 16,373 students enroled in 2013. University president Alan Wildeman expects another drop to 15,230 students in fall of 2016.
Wildeman adds the enrolment drop is not being felt evenly across university programs noting engineering students make up 15% of the total student population up from 9% in 2010 while arts and humanities students now make up 34% of the student population, down from 44% five years ago.
