Landfill Agreement Garners $2.3M

Ridge Landfill earned Chatham-Kent $2.3-million this year.

The payment is part of a host community agreement between Progressive Waste Solutions and the municipality.

"The royalty is based upon how much material we receive at the Ridge Landfill. Since 2000 our royalties have totalled roughly $19.5-million back to the municipality," says George South, area manager (Ontario) for Progressive Waste.

South estimates the landfill will reach capacity within the next seven to eight years.
