Fischer Disappointed In World Juniors Snub

Windsor Spitfire Christian Fischer is looking to refocus his game after not being selected for the U.S. World Junior Hockey Team.

"I've had really good production this year with goals and points but also I've had a very good plus-minus as well so I think that comes with my two-way game. So I think there's a lot of positions they could have put me in but like I said it's not my call," says Fischer.

Fischer says he was disappointed but will use the decision as motivation moving forward.

In the meantime, the 18-year-old Spits forward doesn't put any weight into speculation the selection team frowns on Americans in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and gives preference to those who stayed in the U.S. to play college hockey (NCAA).

"With players coming from the States to the OHL I know there's rumours saying that they don't like that but I personally don't think that," he says. "I think if you're playing your game and they want to take you, they're going to take you."

Fischer is 26th in OHL scoring with 16 G and 15 A for 31 points in 27 games.

The U.S. announced its World Junior selection camp roster on Monday.
