UPDATE: Snow Possible This Weekend

Environment Canada says, while we will definitely see mixed precipitation this weekend, there should be at least some snow in the forecast.

The weather agency has issued a special weather statement saying rain or wet snow will begin Saturday morning. By the end of the day, accumulation will vary between 2-5 cm (0.75-2 in).

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service in the U.S. predicts the Metro Detroit area could get up to 7 in (17.7 cm) tomorrow.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says there are different ways the storm could track, and with temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, how far north or south the storm travels can make a big difference.

"It looks like Detroit is going with one of the solutions that sees more cold air," says Coulson. "Even a change in forecast track that's relatively minor -- what falls out of the sky can be very different."

"The track we're following, a little further north, and it's going to keep the precipitation a mix, for the most part, or just cold rain."

Coulson says forecasters are keeping a close eye on the storm, and if conditions change for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent, Environment Canada will issue another special weather statement.
