Santa Claus Parade In Aid Of Good Cause

A number of different organizations will be collecting donations during tonight's Downtown Chatham Santa Claus Parade.

Whitney Burk says the Chatham-Kent Professional Fire Fighters Association will be doing a boot drive for "The Christmas Project."

"Chatham-Kent Children Services, that's who were partnering with. So there's $100 that we give to each child, and they use $50 for clothes and $50 for toys." says Burk. "We were able to raise over $3,000 (last year), which provided 31 children with toys and clothes for Christmas. Of course we always like to beat our record so we're aiming higher this year."

The Salvation Army will be collecting non-perishable food items, Torbram Electric will be collecting stuffed animals and small toys, while Canada Post will be taking Letters to Santa.

The Santa Claus parade starts on the Lacroix St. bridge at 6pm, and turns left down King St. where it will make its way through downtown Chatham before ending at the WISH Centre.
