When the province announced spending for some new schools and major reconstructions of others there were no schools from Chatham-Kent or Lambton County on the list.
However the Director of Education for the St. Clair Catholic Board, Dan Parr says he wasn't expecting any, because board isn't closing schools right now.
"It's almost entirely money that is given to school boards who have taken on a consolidation of schools, who have conducted an accommodation review and made a decision about reducing the number of facilities," he says. "Perhaps in the next 12 to 18 months we anticipate that there might be some opportunities for us to apply because because we might have some accommodation reviews that would indicate consolidation of some of our schools."
Parr says the most recent example for the board is when it consolidated its two Sarnia high schools.
