Don't Let Mistake Overshadow Service

A woman who noticed the word Remembrance is spelled with an extra "e" on the Korean section of the Chatham cenotaph doesn't want questions of how to fix it to overshadow ceremonies on Wednesday.

Deborah Lowes Verhey says she hadn't expected to controversy that came up when she brought the matter up.

"I had no intention of criticising or polarising this issue, I just think the spelling mistake should be corrected," she says. "I am doing my darndest to come up with some answers and I've been contacted by some people and it will get fixed."

There has been suggestions the stone may have to be left as is, but Lowes Verhey says, once Remembrance Day services are over there will be a solution.
