Maroons Down Vipers

The Chatham Maroons beat the LaSalle Vipers 5-3 in Junior B hockey action on Sunday.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first period, the Maroons scored another three in the second before the Vipers were able to get their first goal. LaSalle scored another two in the third, but one final goal with 11 seconds left to play ensured Chatham's victory.

Vipers forward Manny Silverio led his team with two goals and says they had a slow start to the game.

"We've had a break since Wednesday, we hadn't played, so it took us a while to find our legs," he says. "But we found them late in the second and in the third we started to bring it on to them. If we had another period, I think we would have won that game."

The Vipers will take on the Lambton Shores Predators on Wednesday at 7pm, while the Maroons return to the ice on Friday to face off against the St. Marys Lincolns at 7:30pm.
