Taking Supplies To Refugee Camps

Two local men who head to Iraq and Kurdistan in November to deliver food and help get refugee camps ready for winter, are collecting money to fund the supplies.

Sean Moore and Jeff Bultje plan to help people who were displaced by ISIS.

Moore says there is a lot of need.

"When we are in Iraq and Kurdistan we'll be helping people that don't have any food, don't have water, don't have milk for babies, windows need to be enclosed so we need plastic for windows," he says.

Moore adds a lot of people don't understand the trip is important when there are people in Canada in need of help.

"It's a different ballgame over there, these people are being murdered, beheaded, they are being shot at daily, and the women and children are being taken and they are being raped," he says.

Bultje says he is willing to take the risk of going to a dangerous country so that he can help and is hoping people will donate to help that need.

"If people want to give us money to buy materials to cover the windows, kerosene, food, to help people in these refuge camps," he says. "Because there is something very tangible that can be done."

The two men leave on November 13, and Moore will be staying until Christmas. It is Bultje's first relief trip but Moore has delivered food to Iraq refugee camps in the past.
