Pelee Island Mayor Rick Masse hopes negotiations with the federal government over ownership of Scudder Dock at the north end of the island aren't impacted by the federal election.
When talks began, the island had a representative in government, but now their MP Dave VanKesteren is in opposition.
Masse says they need federal funding to bring the dock up to standards.
"Our biggest challenge will be trying to get that facility with some money to bring it up to standard," says Masse.
Similar deals have already been negotiated for the harbours in Wheatley, Leamington, and Colchester.
Masse hopes talks will resume within the next month.
