Business Plans Looks To Technology

The new Chatham-Kent Police Service business plan continues to stress the importance of technology upgrades for the service.

The Police Service Board has accepted the plan as guidance through the end of 2017. Chief Gary Conn says it supports moving to new generation communications and computer equipment for officers and dispatchers.

"People being able, when they make that emergency call also forward into our emergency communications centres pictures and real time video which will assist us in our investigations," he says. "I think everybody can appreciate the complexities surrounding modern day policing and certainly the economic pressures we are facing not just in our organization but as a municipality as a whole."

Conn says video capability in the 911 system would also be safer for first responders because they would have a better idea of what is actually happening at a scene.
