The Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce wants full access to the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal Conservative Stephen Harper signed early this month.
President Matt Marchand says it will have implications in this region, especially for the auto industry.
"I think largely what we're seeking is the actual documents rather than commentary that we find in the media or other locations," he says. "We really want to find out exactly what is in the agreement so that our membership can make informed judgments on how to position their business."
Marchand adds there are some risks, but also opportunities for the auto industry, which is why he wants more information.
There's also some concern with how currency will be impacted in the TPP agreement.
"Is there a side deal on currency restrictions with respect to potentially manipulating currency," he says. "We're concerned countries perhaps lowering its currency value to gain trade advantage."
This region's chamber will bring forward the letter at the annual Canadian Chamber of Commerce meeting this weekend.
Once a government is elected on Monday, Marchand says the letter will be sent to the feds seeking greater access to TPP deal.
