Reps for local elementary school teachers say ramped up work action shouldn't affect students too much.
As contract negotiations continue, teachers have been instructed to not participate in field trips or respond to principals electronically in off-hours.The new work-to-rule moves came into effect at the start of the school year.
Lambton-Kent Elementary Teachers' Federation President Ron Rivait says the conditions are still geared mainly towards the higher-ups.
"A lot of the focus is still administration-only. We're waiting to see exactly where we go, but everyone is keeping a very positive and hopeful eye," he says.
Rivait adds negotiation sessions have been going on every day since the start of last week, which he says is a good sign.
Other work action for teachers includes not attending school open houses, or professional development days.
