PC Critic Sounds Electricity Alarm

PC finance critic Vic Fedeli discussed his party's views on electricity prices and the proposed sale of Hydro One during his recent stop alongside Chatham-Kent Essex MPP Rick Nicholls.

Fedeli told a group of supporters in Blenheim that if something isn't done soon, jobs will continue to leave the province for jurisdictions with cheaper power.

"Industries that have suffered because we have the highest energy rates in North America will continue to want to know how bad it is going to get and what can be done about it," he says.

Fedeli says a Leamington greenhouse owner decided to expand into Ohio, instead of doubling the size of his Leamington farm, because of electricity costs.

Fedeli also criticized plans to sell Hydro One, saying the $9-billion the province will collect won't cover one year's deficit, let alone help pay for things years down the road.
