People from as far away as California and Wisconsin are in North Buxton this weekend for the 92nd annual Homecoming. taking place this weekend with a Civil War reenactment event.
Shannon Prince, the curator of the Buxton National Historic site, says there will be a Civil War reenactment and before the battle starts there will be demonstrations of one of the popular sports of the era.
"Cricket was the game that Civil War soldiers played when they weren't in battle or out training, so there is a gentlemen coming from the States to not only demonstrate, but it is going to be a participatory event," she says. "There will be a Civil War camp beside the log cabin, so visit with the Civil War soldiers as well."
The cricket demonstration begins at 3:30pm, the reenactments begins at 7pm and the evening ends with fireworks.
