Pow Wow Breaks Down Borders

Over 200 dancers from across the province will be competing this weekend in Moraviantown.

The dancers and drummers are participating in the 43rd Annual Delaware Nation Pow Wow.

Chief Greg Peters says the Pow Wow is a chance for the Delaware Nation to share their culture with all of Chatham-Kent.

"Just to come out and spend the afternoon and take in some of the dancing and talk to some of the vendors, and socialize" says Peters. "I think it's crucial to understand one another's culture, and this gives the public a chance to get a little taste."

Over $20,000 in prizes will be awarded as 2,500 people are expected to be in attendance each day. The Pow Wow is taking place at 14811 Schoolhouse Line in Thamesville.

There will also be vendors selling authentic first nations items, like jewellery, clothing, and food.
