A Wallaceburg group is looking to build a new splashpad at Colwell Park to be opened by next summer.
Chatham-Kent Council has agreed to take on the cost of operating the pad, if the Wallaceburg Splash Pad Committee raises funds for construction and design.
Committee Chair Chris Young says they won't be holding back when fundraising. "We're going to be fairly aggressive. We want something comparable in size and stature to what they have a Brander Park and other communities in the area. If we can surpass that and make it better that would be wonderful."
The Committee hasn't set a fundraising goal in mind, but Young says the average splash pad costs $250,000.
The team hopes to open the pad on July 1, 2016.
