Greenhouse On Wheels Aims To Teach

Leamington company Nature Fresh is hitting the road with its mobile greenhouse this weekend as part of an education and awareness campaign.

President Peter Quiring says people are increasingly interested in where their food comes from.

"We get a lot of pesticide questions. We get a lot of bee related questions. We got a lot of questions about GMOs. We get questions about energy efficiency, we get labour questions," says Quiring, feeling the stops give people the chance to see the benefits of greenhouse farming.

"Most people will never have the opportunity to go to a greenhouse and take a tour and see what we do and how we do it," says Quiring. "A lot of people are hearing about the algae blooms in Lake Erie and we're very proud to tell them, 'that's not us' because 0% of our nutrient water goes into the waterways. We use and reuse 100% of the water within our farming operations."

The mobile greenhouse was at the Zehrs in Tecumseh yesterday, at the Zehr's in Kingsville today and at the Real Canadian Superstore in Sarnia tomorrow.
