Leamington's Pool Could Return To Chlorine

Leamington council will be asked to abandon the salt water system installed in the Kinsmen Rec Complex pool in 2007 and return to a chlorinated system.

Salt water was highly touted by the town when it was installed eight years ago, but according to Director of Community Services Tracey Pillon-Abbs, it's deteriorating all of the metal water pipes. "Salt water really is better for domestic use outside, where all of the filtration system is specifically designed for salt."

Pillon-Abbs says the new chlorinated system will feature a UV filter, so it will feel better than the pool did when it was previously filtered with chlorine.

It will cost $220,000 and require the pool to be closed for roughly three weeks in September to install.
