Organizers of last weekend's Ribs and Blues event in Shrewsbury say it was a big success that attracted 800 people.
Event co-organizer Ken Bell says it raised in the neighbourhood of $10,000 and that money is being used to enhance the community centre. "We keep up the community centre and surrounding ground for the people of Shrewsbury and surrounding area to come and enjoy, we offer our hall for community events for free," he says. "Over the past few years we put a roof on our building, we've put windows on, with the help of the C-K Community Fund we built a great pole barn and this year we're going to start working on bathrooms." Bell says he would like to add a third event for the fall, but that would require more volunteers.
