A double medalist at the Pan Am Games says upgrades at Caledon Equestrian Park will pay off for area riders.
Ridgetown native Chris von Martels anticipates the venue will help the sport grow. "There's no doubt in my mind that we do have this new world class facility in Caledon," says von Martels. "We hope that there will be many, many more international events hosted there in the future." He adds the equestrian sport is growing in Ontario and across North America.
The 32-year-old and his horse Zilverstar are coming off silver and bronze medal performances in the team and individual dressage competitions.
Von Martels will now compete in the U.S. and Europe over the next few months in hopes of accumulating enough points to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
