The future of medicine in Windsor-Essex will be unveiled today during a five-hour bus tour for reporters.
Announced so far:
Hotel Dieu-Grace Healthcare Tayfour Campus
- 60 new mental health beds
- Six new renal dialysis stations at Tayfour Campus, move from Ouellette site
Former Grace Hospital Site (University Ave. W and Crawford)
- Will become an Urgent Care Centre to treat less serious emergency room visits.
- It will be open 18-hours per day to start, with the opportunity to expand.
- The city will swap the land with Windsor Regional Hospital.
Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus
- Ownership will return to Hotel Dieu-Grace Healthcare
- Building will be demolished and a smaller site built to hold mental health and chronic disease services
Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus
- Site will be given to the city as part of the land swap for the Grace site.
- It will be completely demolished when the city receives it.
- Mayor Drew Dilkens expects commercial will front on Tecumseh Rd. E with residential behind.
