Food Council Seeking Members

The Chatham-Kent Food Policy Council is looking for volunteer members.

Lyndsay Davidson with the group says they're looking for people who are interested in improving food strategies for CK.

"We've worked very closely with the [agriculture] development committee to develop the 'Grown in CK' brand; the little logo that will allow people to know where their food is coming from when they're buying local food," says Davidson.

The public health dietitian says the food policy council is looking for seven members from different sectors of the community.

"When we're talking about things that could be done in a grocery store, or that farmers could do, or could be done in health care, those individuals are already sitting at the table and can bring their perspectives in and help to make sure that we understand exaclty what's going on and how best to work within those areas," says Davidson.

The deadline to apply is July 24. Head to the Chatham-Kent Food Policy Council website to apply and for more information.
