The hiring process for a new deputy police chief for Chatham-Kent is past the interview stage and a decision should be made shortly.
Chief Gary Conn says the police service board is considering a number of candidates.
"There were four internal applicants and all competed in the process which consisted of a presentation and an interview process," he says. "Once they select an individual they have to start with the negotiations surrounding a contract."
Conn expects the new deputy to be announced at the July police service board meeting.
